Next session coming this Spring!
We want to explore a new kind of online gathering: The Chickadee Road :: Studio Sessions. For now, Chickadee Road is a virtual space right here, but we dream of a magical place tucked into the woods right by the sea where we could gather with you.
The Studio Sessions are four-week online gatherings inspired by the idea that we would love to open our studios up to other creative souls who want to spend four weeks cultivating their creative practice.
What does cultivating a creative practice mean?
Many of us dream of having a week or two or even a whole month where we could travel to a beautiful corner of the world and spend that time creating a new body of work or writing a memoir or actually using the mixed media techniques we’ve learned in the workshops we’ve taken. And then, we’d love to circle in community with other creatives who would say, “How are you doing over there? How did it go?”
This is what the Chickadee Road :: Studio Sessions are about: Creating a virtual space where we can support one another as we take a few minutes or even an hour or two a day to practice and make small moves and big leaps toward the creative dreams that wait within us.
The creative practice you work with will be up to you.
You might want to:
- Journal each day
- Begin a meditation practice
- Tell your story through photography adventures
- Paint, paint, and paint some more
- Draw in your sketchbook four times a week
- Make one small self-care move every day
- Start a blog
- Create an ecourse
- Play with self-portraits
- Have fun with color in your studio/creative corner every day
And each day, we will be here to guide you, celebrate you, and inspire you, and your circle of kindreds will be here to catch you as you play and work and find your way.

FAQ
Why should you join us?
At retreats, we repeatedly hear women say that they wish they could bottle up and take home the circle of kindreds they’ve connected with and the creative energy they feel. Then they get home and the daily routines make it hard to continue and keep the creativity flowing.
The Chickadee Road :: Studio Sessions are about creating a safe space to facilitate that kind of connection while you are living in your usual day-to-day. You don’t always have to get on a plane to find your kindreds and to make time for creativity. We believe that you can find connection by just showing up as you everyday and sharing your stories about where you are, what you know, and what you hope.
How much time will this take each day?
This will depend on the day, but most posts will take you between 5-20 minutes to read or watch. How you choose to interact with the prompts provided will be up to you. Some people might just write a few thoughts down in a journal as a way to hold themselves accountable during these four weeks; others might want to get really involved in the community by taking photos of their daily practice (for example, their painting or creative space), sharing questions and responses in the comments on the blog, and so on.
What if I really want to be part of this community but don’t know what creative practice I want to do?
On September 5, we will open our gathering space early and there will be a few welcome/discussion posts. One will be all about how to choose your practice and will give you an opportunity to talk and share with one another before we get started.
I want to participate but can I do so privately?
Yes! We would love to have you come along and it is completely okay to participate privately. We expect to have several women who will practice in this way. There will not be any requirements to share your photos or what you are working on; how much you interact with the gathered community is up to you. There will be a few posts where we will gently ask for everyone to enter the conversation with a few words in the comments because there is such beauty and power in hearing everyone's voice, but again, this will not be required. We will invite you to listen to your intuition when it comes to sharing or keeping your words and stories private. And we will be here to catch your words via email if that is a more comfortable way to share your stories and questions.

Finding sacred space within our daily lives, creating room for more joy and laughter, making time for creativity - these things make life sweet. But when we create and gather together, sharing and connecting in a circle of kindreds, well, that can be the cherry on top of this crazy, awesome life.
